As individuals with time, talents and treasures, Texas Kappas support our sisters first. In addition, we participate in local philanthropy projects; and third, we serve the greater good.
In accordance with the Kappa motto, Texas Kappas work to support our sisters by donating to the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation to help fund scholarships for other Kappa members.
Texas Kappas also participate in local service events in the Austin community throughout the semester. Some of our chapter wide and individual service projects include:
Reading Is Key
Our chapter works closely with RIF in Austin by raising money as well as hosting a "Reading Is Key" festival for the Boys and Girls Club after school program at Wooldridge Elementary.
Kappa partnered with the B+ Foundation, a non-profit offering community support for children with cancer. B+ partners with Greek chapters across the US, matching a chapter with a B+ hero. Beta Xi has been paired with Moriah, a gal with a whirlwind of energy and spunk, living in Austin. Kappas spent the Spring 2016 semester getting to know Moriah by taking her to dinner, watching movies, playing games at Dave & Buster's, or simply visiting her in the hospital. She has been a blessing to the chapter, and it has been encouraging to see the chapter come together around Moriah.
Girls Inspiring Respect, Leadership, & Service
Chapters and alumna associations of Kappa Kappa Gamma partner with local middle schools to offer young girls a life-changing opportunity for long-lasting mentorship. During the one-day retreat, middle-school girls discuss the challenges they face, journal about their dreams and participate in a community service project while being mentored by Kappa collegians and alumnae.
